Stéréoophonie is plural. A poly, unpolished project with its doubled o’s, its senses and non-senses. In the lineage of Raymond Roussel and Bobby Lapointe, Claude Gauvreau and Antonin Artaud. It calls for a slow reading through rapid bursts. This is where it unfolds: in the stereo field. The drawings make it clear: one speaker chatters on one side, the other answers from its own. Together, they form a single image, but one that stretches out over time. Stéréoophonie is a gestural, visual, and semantic play in the recesses of a state of mind oscillating from left to right, then from right to left, in an endless back-and-forth.
For the writing phase of this project, the author enlisted two word jugglers, Simon Brown and Julie Doucet.

Between two sessions of art school, Lisandre leaves for two months to look after heifers in the Swiss Alps. There, at an altitude of fifteen hundred metres, she observes and records what surrounds her: wildflowers, birds, towering peaks. She also listens for the call of the cuckoo, almost indistinguishable from that of clocks. But the weather changes quickly on the alpine pasture, shifting from blazing sunshine to driving rain, when it is not thunder rolling in. Little by little, Lisandre learns to live to the rhythm of the herd and the mountain, and to win the acceptance of the young cows, timid and whimsical as they are. What if, to truly know them, all one had to do was follow the sound of their bells?

Mauvaises herbes is an alphabetical list of unwanted plants. A poetic lexicon of Quebec flora, where composite and figurative terms accumulate in an incessant enumeration.
From Absinthe du pays to Willie puant, the text is built as a poetic quest in migration, whose spread wavers between technical and vernacular names, numerous momentary anaphoras, new expressions and even potential insults, if we are to believe the climax of the work. A raw poem by its nature, Mauvaises herbes is a nod to the works of Brother Marie-Victorin, Paul-Marie Lapointe and Claude Gauvreau.
A literary Ready-made, Mauvaises herbes is a meticulous and summary rewriting of the work Noms des pauvres herbes du Québec, written by the agronomist Maurice Ferron and the agronomist-botanist Richard Cayouette, whose third edition, revised and expanded, was published by Agriculture Québec in 1975.

T A L O S is an interdisciplinary effort bringing together writing, electroacoustic music, performance and visual arts.
Here, a misadventure propels the protagonist into the script of Talos, an early ideation of a robot that emerged from ancient Greece. Having lost a bolt at his ankle, the bronze automaton lets out the ichor that kept it artificially alive. The formal and acoustic similarities, imagined and recorded, between the myth and the spilling of a water heater inspire the autofictions in the libretto, from which the themes of memory and water emerge. In the form of bodily fluids, robotic hemorrhage or osmosis, the omnipresence of water projects the reader and the listener into a universe of vulnerability, urgency and scarcity.

With Matières premières, Annie Descôteaux succeeds in constructing a series of texts that lets us see and consider the world that lies “through the looking-glass”, that is, just beyond the prism of disobedience inherent to the very art-making she practises.

Les confessions is a recent project that reflects Sophie Jodoin’s ongoing preoccupation with the interaction of language with images.
